Next Steps!!!!

Okay...so on the note of 'revisiting' some past work....I decided to tackle this simple sketch I made a while back before I started the course......I was going to paint it.....but I decided to l;eave it till I got to a decent point in photoshop to actually make it work....

So I gave her the name Erin....

I suppose I'm preparing myself more for character design now....especially after getting around deviantart.....I always get inspired there......it's like porn for artists in short, hahaha

I'll keep you posted on the progress! Not sure what I'm gunna be going for exactly just yet.....but all I know so far...is 'Pink'....and 'Purple'

Lean Machine Respawn

Okay...so after the years 'OFFICIAL' end now lol....I feel quite comfortable to start blogging my own work now.....

So here's what I've been frantically working on...which I finally finished last night....but here's some process shots before hand..

Original Sketch

Mid Texture

Final Outcome: Lean Machine Respawn

So after some painstaking trial and error attempts, I finally finished it to the standard I was happy with, I did have some fear as to spoiling the picture itself, by adding to much, such as the texure, and the red ribbon (whish was the most enjoyable part actually).....but I had feel in the end...it balances up pretty well....

Reflecting on the issues I had:

I had alot of problems along the way, for instance, trying to connect the relatiion between the figure, and the background (which I broke away from with blurring some edges to soften the focus as well as darking the underside of the figure, casting shadow)....another was the coloured section, which Yola was kind enough to help with (thankyou) who pointed out it just didnt 'feel right' as it drew to much attention...but with some radial, and motion blur, as well as colour dodge, I was able to tackle it in the end....but the main reason intrestingly enough, was the picture below, which showed me how effective it was whilst adjusting some levels for darkening the image above.....

Lean Machine Reprise

In the end.....I think I've learned to push through those fears, and bounadries seperating my physical work, to digital....and that's what I can gladly take away from the year.....and also......if somthing still feels incomplete, or holds futher potential...chase it!

I am alive!!!!.....Update On Summer So Far!

.....Ahh...it's been a while since I've posted on my blog.....truth is.....I feel like I've neglected it slightly since leaving....but that doesnt mean I've been doing nothing, infact I've actually been working non-stop!

That said....Im not entirely happy with the progress I made last year....though towards then end, when it come to crunch time...I really felt like I registered myself into an intense week training for maya lol....although throughout each project I have learned so much....it's just not been enough in the long run....

It does feel like I've 'coined' myself as the 'arty' guy out of the class, who happens upon all the cliche reasons for 'just' making it....and I've realised this for quite sometime....so this summer....my goal is the get myself up to the standard I should have been a long time ago...and then some....

So my first few steps...obvioulsy involved goin pack to painting......'sorry phil' lol.....just to get myself back into the routine of drawing etc.....but you'll be pleased to know I've started to prepare a transition of sorts to digital painting, through painting textures on paper before hand....and just generally experimenting....

I've also been uploading/retouching past works to my deviantart account (whilst attempting to network)........which has actually spurred me onto developing an old 'drawn' piece....that had some potential, and expanding it entirely in photoshop, with texturing and painting.....Feedback welcome....

Apart from that.....I'll keep you updated on my progress! Suggestions would be welcomed too!
